Deutsche Schule Athen (German School of Athens)
An unconventional photovoltaic system that generates power using solar energy was installed in the German School of Athens (Deutsche Schule Athen).
Two separate units were installed, one on the Elementary School rooftop and the other on the Junior High-school rooftop, generating total load power of 40kW. The units were installed very carefully without being screwed on the rooftops. Instead, special surfaces were placed on the rooftops to screw the units on and gravels were used for protection from the wind.
A central monitoring system was set and a web portal with worldwide access was created, in order to record the system’s data and ensure that the photovoltaic system is operating properly.
