The most important part of a stand-alone photovoltaic system is the battery (accumulator).
Choosing the battery that can cover the needs of the consumer in power supply is not an easy task.
For instance, the battery that has to be installed in a permanent residence is different than the one installed in a summer home or for lighting purposes.
The price of the battery varies, depending on the type and the technical characteristics.
Choosing the wrong battery may lead to an unnecessary spend of money.
- GEL Batteries
Gel batteries use sulfuric acid mixed with fumed silica. The combination creates a thickened liquid that looks like a gel.
They are, generally, more use resistant.
- AGM Batteries
Between the lead plates of every AGM battery there is a porous material made of glass fiber impregnated with the sulfuric acid solution.
